Academic Council

The Academic Council of Western Kazakhstan Agrarian-Technical University named after Zhangir Khan is a deliberative body of the University. The activities of the Academic Council are based on publicity and collective discussion of issues within its competence.

Chairman of the Academic Council is Chairman of the Board, Rector, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor Askar Nametov.

Deputy Chairman of the Academic Council is Chairman of the Board, First Deputy Rector, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Finance, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor Utegen Taubaev.

Academic Secretary is Tolkyn Abdulova.

The University Academic Council includes vice-rectors, departments, heads of University departments, faculty representatives, student representatives, undergraduates, and the chairman of the Trade Union Committee.

In its activities, the Academic Council is guided by the Legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, this Regulation and the Charter of the University.

The main objectives of the Academic Council are:

– decision-making on issues of scientific and educational policy, educational work among students, the main directions of international activities on academic issues;

– ensuring the implementation of state programs in the field of education and science.

The powers of the Academic Council include:

making proposals to University board on all the fundamental issues of organizing educational and research activities of the University, reviewing annual plans and reports of Heads of  Departments on educational, research, informational and international activities.

There are discussed the Academic Council, the annual Messages of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the people of Kazakhstan, the State Program for the Development of Education in Kazakhstan, resolutions and decisions of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the meeting. The competence of the Academic Council of the University also includes the award of scientists and honorary titles, the appointment of Presidential and nominal scholarships and awards.
